Coral Pea Vine – A gorgeous and unique flowering vine native to Argentina. When grown on a support system like an arbor or trellis, this perennial will grow to be about 4-6 feet tall at maturity. If left unsupported, it can become leggy and will only reach about 3 feet in height. You can see an example of this planted on the right side of the staircase that leads down from our parking lot at the Garden! The foliage is bright green and rounded, making it an attractive vine even without its pea-shaped blooms. In late spring and early summer, the neon orange flowers emerge at the tops of the stems, popping vividly out of the landscape. These flowers blooms for about 1-2 months before being replaced by typical dark brown seed pods. In most winters, this vine dies back to the ground but reemerges quickly in early spring. Plant in part sun and in well-draining soil. Irrigate regularly.
