Texas Craglily – This Texas native bulb was originally collected by John Fairey and Carl Schoenfeld in the San Carlos Mountains of Mexico in 1993. For much of the year, the long bright green lily-like leaves are unassuming and a good fit for garden borders or crevice beds. However, 2-3 times a year long flower stalks emerge from each bulb and are topped with bright yellow star-shaped flowers that light up the landscape! These whimsical blooms persist for roughly 2 weeks and then fall, just to rebloom again in a few months. Over time, the bulbs will multiply and spread, and the seeds will germinate, leaving you with a small patch of these wonderful plants. Since they're bulbs, they are very easy to dig up and transplant, but they also make wonderful gifts for your friends and family! Plant in part sun and in well-draining soil. This plant is drought tolerant but benefits from somewhat regular irrigation, especially in late summer.
