Pyramid Bush – A lively flowering perennial shrub native to Florida and Texas. Pyramid Bush is a dense herbaceous shrub that showcases silver-toned fuzzy leaves and bright pink flowers in late spring through fall. Although it dies back to the ground each year in our climate, it reemerges quickly and forms a 6 foot tall shrub by late spring. Thanks to its quick growth and dense foliage, it makes a wonderful border plant. In the Garden, John Fairey planted it in a long row to help separate the South Dry Garden and North Perennial Border. Pyramid Bush can easily be pruned and maintained into a box or rounded shape, or you can let nature do its work and let it grow widely. All that we recommend is to cut it back in late winter to promote early spring growth. Plant in full to part sun and in well-draining soil. Pyramid Bush is reliably drought tolerant but flowers best when regularly irrigated.
