Red Dragon Rockrose – A vibrant red alternative to the classic Rockrose that is found in nearly every southern garden. This cultivar is a cross between our native P. lasiopetala and a bright red South American species, although we are not entirely postive what species that is. Regardless, this is a fast-growing perennial that deserves a space in your yard! Within its first year in the ground, the Red Dragon will form a dense rounded shrub, about 2-4 feet in height and up to 4 feet in width. From late spring through early fall, this showstopper repeatedly pushes out vivid red blooms that are highly frequented by our native pollinators. If left untouched, the branches of this plant can get slightly leggy, so we recommend lightly pruning it back in late winter. Plant in full sun and in well-draining soil. Red Dragon is reasonably drought tolerant, but will need some supplemental watering through the summer in order to keep blooming.
