Physostegia virginiana ‘Crystal Peaks’

Crystal Peaks Obedient Plant – A pure white cultivar of the beloved Obedient Plant that is native to much of the United States. In mid summer, tall flower spikes emerge and bloom a lustrous pure white, with each flower emerging from a bract that grow at 90 degree angles from one another. The plant gets its name from the way that the flower and bract will remain in place when nudged or moved, making it "obedient" in a way. These gorgeous blooms are adored by many different native pollinators, but the bees especially seem to enjoy digging deep into the flower, which is really cute to watch. The Obedient Plant is perfect for soggy wet backyards, pond edges, or rain gardens, as it appreciates sitting in moist soil. We have this planted along our drainage ditch near the greenhouses, and it is as happy as can be. Plant in part sun and keep moist, especially during the summer.
