A small, unidentified white oak from Galeana, Mexico (but is definitely not Quercus galeanensis!). The foliage of this semi-evergreen is small, glossy, and slightly ruffled-looking. The bark is textured and chunky/flaky, like most white oaks. The oldest specimens in our Garden are growing just fine in part shade and are about 15 feet tall, however we suspect that when planted in full sun they are likely to grow above 20 feet. 'Galeana' naturally grows multiple trunks, but can be pruned back to a single trunk if desired, and has branches that will grow all the way to the base of the tree if left untouched. Plant in full or part sun and in well-draining soil. It is drought tolerant and cold hardy once established.
