Shrubby Blue Sage – A showy and reliable Texas native that can grow up to 6 feet tall. As the name suggests, Shrubby Blue Sage has small blue flowers and a shrub-like form, although it can be easily pruned back into a smaller perennial size. The small flowers are impressive attractors for native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, and provide a nice subtle pop of color in the landscape. As it ages, the stems become woody, so to promote optimate flowering, we recommend pruning it back in late winter. Plant in full sun and in well-draining, rocky soil. It is drought tolerant once established, but will need some supplemental watering for its first summer.
