A hybrid Hibiscus with large pronged leaves and pale pink flowers. Although we are unsure about the origin of this perennial, we are a big fan of the flowers (and so are the bees!). The flowers typically emerge in early to mid summer and persist through early fall, where they are then replaced by brown seed pods. In the Garden, we keep this shrub pruned back into a rounded hedge form, but if left to its own devices, we suspect it would reach about 5-6 feet in height, with a diameter of about 5 feet. In order to fully flush out its new growth and flowers, cut this perennial back to the ground in late winter, before any frosts occur. Plant in full sun and keep well watered through the summer, otherwise the foliage will begin to wilt.
