Oxblood Lily – A covert flowering bulb that only blooms during late summer/early fall. For most of the year, the evergreen foliage peeks out of the ground, unassuming and inconspicous. However, in September, it suddenly sends up firetruck-red lily flowers that sit at a 90 degree angle. These blooms persist for 1-2 weeks and then disappear again, not to be seen until the following year. This makes it a wonderful plant to tuck away into unused garden spaces, perhaps between borders or beneath limbed up shrubs, so that you can be pleasantly suprised by the yearly flowers.
