Guest FAQ

Where do I park?

Guest parking is located just inside the entrance off of FM 359 Rd. between the soil bins and FM 359. Signs mark the parking area.

Where do I go after I park?

Guests should walk down the path at the south side of the parking area which will take you to the office where our staff will sign you in, offer you water, and direct you where to convene before the tour.

Is the garden wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately neither the paths nor the bathrooms are ADA accessible. The paths contain numerous steps and roots and thus are unable to accommodate walkers, wheelchairs and strollers.

Where are the restrooms?

There are two single-person restrooms, one at the east end of the building which houses the office, and one inside the house behind the office. There are no restrooms in the garden itself.

Is there water?

We will provide guests water upon sign in. Guests may also bring their own water on the tour.

Is it hot there?

South Texas can be warm 9 or 10 months out of the year and very hot between June and September. Guests should wear sunscreen, comfortable clothing and a hat. Tour docents try to keep guests in the shade as much as possible but portions of the tour are in full sun.

May I take photographs?

Absolutely! We encourage you to take photographs. If you post them on social media, please include the hashtag #jfgarden.

May I touch the plants?

There are some plants it is advisable not to touch, but we do allow guests to smell flowers, feel leaves and touch bark wherever safe; however, we ask that you not break a leaf, snap a stem or pick a seed.

May I smoke?

No. The John Fairey Garden is a no-smoking property.
