Ageratina hernandezii

A beautiful flowering shrub originally collected by John Fairey and Carl Schoenfeld in the San Carlos mountains in 1999. Growing up to 4-5 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide, this shrub showcases matte green rounded foliage that is nearly evergreen and adds beautiful texture to the landscape. In early summer, small white mistflowers emerge on the top of the canopy and persist through much of the summer. We've noticed that the butterflies in particular seem to really enjoy these vibrant blooms! In winter, this shrub has proven to be reliably cold hardy, withstanding temperatures as low as 15 degrees Fahrenheit without physical damage. Plant in full sun and in well-draining soil. Although its proven to be drought tolerant, we've noticed that the foliage gets dull after long periods without water, so irrigate regularly if you want bright leaves throughout the summer.
