Bartlett's Orchid Tree – A showstopping tree/shrub originally collected by John Fairey and Carl Schoenfeld in 1991 in Puerto Purificacion, Mexico. Growing up to 10 feet at maturity, this plant showcases vibrant pink orchid-shaped flowers in late spring through early summer, backdropped by evergreen long-winged leaves that add excellent texture into the landscape. In its native environment, this plant grows into a small tree form, but in Texas it seems to take on more of a shrubby appearance. Plant in full to part sun and in well-draining soil. This plant is reliably drought tolerant.
