Queen's Tears – An intriguing flowering bromeliad native to Brazil. This fast grower is only 1 foot tall, but will quickly form a large clump of clones about 2-3 feet wide if left untouched. The foliage is green with light silver hairs, all forming a dense rosette. In early spring, small pinkish red flower stalks emerge from the center of each rosette and produce a bizarre upside-down flower, striped in green and blue with bright yellow anthers. These vivid blooms are highly frequented by the spring pollinators, especially the bees, and are unlike any other! Unfortunately, this succulent is not completely cold hardy in our climate and will die at temperatures less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit, so we recommend keeping it in a container that can be moved indoors in the winter. Luckily, it is reasonably drought tolerant and really only needs to be watered once a month! Plant in well draining-soil mix and keep in full or part sun.
