Bouchea linifolia

Groovestem Bouchea – A groovy (see what I did there?) herbaceous perennial originally collected by John Fairey and Carl Schoenfeld in Coahuila in 1990. Only growing to be 2 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide at maturity, this slender leaved sub-shrub is perfect for small yards, containers, crevice gardens, or simply those with limited planting space. Starting in late spring and persisting through early fall, bright purple flowers bloom densely and are a great food source for native pollinators. Additionally, the very thin foliage and light woody stems add a xeric, airy texture to the plant, making it an interesting ornamental addition to the landscape. In order to get a beautiful and dense shrub in the spring, we recommend pruning it back in late winter. Plant in full sun and in well-draining soil.
