Red Fairy Duster – A beautiful naturally occuring hybrid between two beloved Fairy Dusters native to California. This compact shrub grows to be about 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide with dense branches that provide shelter for lizards, snakes, and other small creatures. The foliage is similar to a Mimosa tree and is very delicate looking, which adds to the plants overall desert-style appearance. In early summer, bright red puffs of flowers emerge all over the branches, lighting up the landscape and drawing in the native bees who seem to relish rolling in the exposed pollen. In late fall, the blooms are replaced with dark brown seed pods that are easy to germinate or share with friends and family. Plant in full sun and in well-draining soil.
