Narrowleaf Beautyberry – An unusual Callicarpa native to Taiwan. This beauty came to us from Dr. Meng Meng Gu, who formerly worked at Texas A&M University. This flowering and fruiting shrub has long, somewhat fuzzy leaves, and is a very quick grower! In early summer, pops of bright pink flowers emerge on the branches, which are later followed by purpleish-pink fruit in early fall. At maturity in our climate, this shrub grows to be about 4 feet tall and up to 5-6 feet wide. It prefers to be planted in part shade (particularly with protection from the afternoon sun), but can tolerate full sun. Keep it well watered throughout the summer, or else the foliage will become wilty and droopy.
