Chinese Incense-Cedar – A striking evergreen conifer native to China. At maturity, the Chinese Incense-Cedar grows to be about 20 feet tall in our climate, with dense flattened branchlets that give the tree a wispy form as it dances in the wind. This conifer grows quickly, reaching over 10 feet in just 8 years in the ground. In its native habitat, this tree is listed as Vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) due to overharvesting for its desirable lumber. Plant in full sun and in well-draining soil. Although it can tolerate drought conditions, we recommend watering this tree regularly for its first two years in the ground, in order to allow its root system to get established.
