Cestrum auranticum

Orange Jessamine – If you’re in need of a large shrub that will bloom from early spring through late fall and will attract hordes of pollinators, then Orange Jessamine will be your holy grail. At maturity, this die-back shrub reaches 6-8 feet in both height and diameter, and becomes covered in orange tubular flowers for most of the year. The shape of these flowers is particularly attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies, which flutter around our planted shrub nonstop. In winter, we cut ours back to the ground, but in a mild winter it will only defoliate. Regardless, this fast-growing shrub is one of the first things to reemerge every year, and will reach its mature height by the end of May. Plant in full sun and keep well-watered through the summer, otherwise it will get wilty.
