Condalia hookeri

Bluewood Condalia – An exceptionally drought tolerant semi-evergreen shrub native to the brushlands of central Texas. In mid spring, vibrant green foliage emerges on the silver thorny branches, creating a dense canopy of delicate leaves. In mid summer, small black berries shine through the thicket of brambling limbs, offering themselves up as a tasty meal for our native birds (who also find refuge from predators amongst the thorns). This striking shrub can grow up to 20 feet in certain climates, but in our Garden they tend to hover around 8-10 feet tall and 8 feet wide. Plant in full sun and in an area that recieves excellent drainage. Bluewood Condalia is extremely drought tolerant, so minimal watering is needed.
