False Red Yucca – A gorgeous blue-toned cultivar of the popular landscaping plant. False Red Yucca, as the name suggests, is not actually a member of the Yucca genus, but is a useful and user-friendly plant nonetheless, thanks to its spineless and flexible leaves. In late spring and early summer, tall flower spikes containing pinkish red blooms emerge, and are beloved by our native bee population. For aesthetic purposes, these flower stalks can be cut down after the blooming period, otherwise they will get dry and topple over. False Red Yucca is both cold hardy and drought tolerant, needing little to no maintenance for much of the year (which is why its so widely planted in parking lots across Texas). Plant in full sun and well draining soil, and let nature do the rest!
