Hoary False Goldenaster – A reliable flowering groundcover native to the Trans-Pecos region of Texas. The foliage is a unique silver, which makes a wonderful backdrop for the bright yellow aster flowers that persist from late spring through late summer. When the flowers fall away, they are replaced by dandelion-like tufts of seed that drift dreamily on the breeze. Over time, this woody perennial will spread and create a dense mat about 3-4 wide, making it suitable for garden borders and hanging pots. You can see an excellent example of this plant right in front of our Garden office! Plant in full sun and in well-draining soil. Although reasonably drought resistant, it will require some supplemental watering in the late summer.
