Little-leaf Millettia – A hardy flowering legume native to much of southern Asia. In our climate, this woody shrub only grows to be about 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide, with attractive mimosa-like foliage. In late spring through mid summer, small clusters of purple pea-flowers emerge within the canopy, giving the plant an almost wisteria-like appearance overall. Thanks to its small stature, Little-leaf Millettia is perfect for smaller yards or those with limited planting space, and it also works well as a container plant. You can see a very nice example of this plant in the Asian Bed outside of our front office at the Garden. Plant in full or part sun and keep it well watered, especially in the summer.
