Beebalm – No Texas garden is complete without Beebalm! This spring bloomer is a classic in pollinator gardens, since our native bees seem to be addicted to the light purple flowers. Growing to be about 3-4 feet tall, Beebalm has bright green, aromatic leaves that can be used to make a mint tea and many other medicinal remedies. Over time, it will spread via tubers and seed, producing a large patch with many flower heads in the spring. Beebalm can be cut back after the flower heads go to seed, and in most cases this helps promote a second round of flowering for early summer. In winter, this herbaceous perennial will die back to the ground and reemerge every spring. Plant in full or part sun and keep well watered.
