Miracle Tree – Native to northern India, this tree has certainly earned its name. Every part of this tree (roots, stems, leaves, flowers, seed pods) are edible and have been found to have medicinal properties. According to a 2023 publication, "It was found that bioactive constituents are present in every part of the plant." (Pareek, Ashutosh et al.). Besides its powers as a superfood, Miracle Tree is an aesthetically pleasing and fast growing plant that we firmly believe everyone should have. While it has been planted in the ground at the garden in the past, a harsh winter will kill this tree at the root. Therefore, we recommend keeping this as a potted plant, ideally on a shaded patio space where it can recieve frequent waterings. This also makes it perfect for those living in apartments or rented homes! When treated well, Moringa will produce large creamy white flowers that taste vaguely of mushroom. The fresh foliage makes a great addition to salads, or when dried and ground up is perfect to add to smoothies, yogurts, or acai bowls!
