Quercus macrocarpa

Bur Oak – A truly gorgeous large deciduous oak that can grow up to 80 feet tall at maturity. The leaves are large and lobed, adding interesting form and texture to the upper canopy of your yard. The bark is textured and chunky, sometimes appearing somewhat corky. The acorns are large, about the size of a ping pong ball, and are typically mostly covered by the acorn cap. As it matures, the canopy of this majestic oak grows tall and wide, providing great shade for larger yards. This is a must-have native oak! Plant in full sun and in well-draining soil. Although it is reasonably drought tolerant once established, it will need to be watered through its first two summers.
