Rusellia maculosa

We had previously been selling this plant under the name Russelia sp. ‘Coral Blow’, but thanks to a dichotomous key from 1930, we were able to identify it down to the species level! This flowering perennial was first collected by John Fairey and Carl Schoenfeld in Tamazunchale, Mexico, and was widely distributed by their very own YuccaDo Nursery. Today, it is growing under the shade of some large palms near our Signature Plant Collection Greenhouse. The stems of this herbaceous plant are thick and square with small circular leaves. In mid summer, tubular flowers emerge in purple and white, and are beloved by hummingbirds and butterflies. Plant in part shade and in well-draining soil. Irrigate this plant regularly, especially in summer.
