Forsynthia Sage – A fantastic herbaceous sage native to the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains in Mexico. Growing up to 7 to 8 feet tall in a single year, this sage is sure to make a statement, especially when you see the bright golden yellow flowers that emerge in fall. The foliage is a vivid green and is highly textured, providing intrigue for your yard even when its not in bloom. Over time, it will spread via underground shoots, creating a large, dense clump. In its native environment, Forsynthia sage can be found growing at elevations up to 5000′ feet, so it breezes through our short cold snaps without worry. Plant in part sun and in moist soil. Keep it well watered, especially in the summer months, in order to enjoy its autumnal flowering show.
