Randy Twaddle comes to the Garden as the most recent president of the board of The John Fairey Garden Conservation Foundation. He brings almost 40 years of experience as an exhibiting visual artist, with over 40 solo and group exhibitions and works in private and public collections across the US. In addition, Mr. Twaddle has over 20 years of branding and marketing experience, first as a co-founder of ttweak, a Houston-based firm, and then as a founder of Small Town, also in Houston. He received a BFA from Northwest Missouri State University, and an MFA from the University of Houston.
Ruth first met John Fairey in the early eighties and has been a friend of the Garden in one capacity or another ever since. Her interests are succulents, Texas natives, and Mexican folk art. She holds a BA (hons) degree from the University of London, an MLS from Sam Houston State University, and a Cambridge CELTA certification in teaching English as a second language. She spent over 25 years as a member of the Lone Star College System faculty.
Craig has been with The John Fairey Garden since 2013 when he started as a nursery and garden volunteer. Within a short time he began leading tours. He developed and maintains the database currently used to document plant accessions. In 2018, he accepted the position of Nursery Manager. He has always been an avid gardener. He has a BS in math and an MBA. He has taught elementary, middle and high school in Texas and Louisiana and has worked as a network administrator for many years.
Adolfo Silva began working at the garden in 2001 under the direction of John Fairey. Adolfo was raised on his family’s farm in Mexico and studied as an agricultural technician before moving to the US. Working side by side with John, Adolfo learned John's plant cultivation techniques and he helped John double the size of the garden from the time he came until John's death.
Ricardo has been assisting Head Gardener, Adolfo Silva, in maintenance of the garden since 2016.
Agustin Casas began working at the garden in 2019. He assists Garden Manager, Adolfo Silva, in the maintenance of the garden.
